Rules for Conducting Research
Before beginning experimentation, students and supporting adults must familiarize themselves with the rules and evaluate the proposed project. Prior approval is required for projects involving human participants, vertebrate animals, or potentially hazardous biological agents.
To be eligible to compete at a regional fair and GSEF, projects must follow the International Rules for Pre-College Science Research, including adherence to research approval protocol and completion of required forms. Students can use the ISEF Rules Wizard and Required Forms Guide to help determine which rules apply to their research project.
The Georgia Science & Engineering Fair upholds the Society for Science’s principles of scientific integrity and Ethics Statement. Student researchers and their supporting adults are expected to hold themselves to the highest ethical standards and adhere to principles of honesty, transparency, and objectivity.
