The Executive Project Management Certificate, offered by University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education and Terry College Executive Education, is a course designed to start or advance your career in project management. This 36-hour course is ideal for those wanting to elevate their project management skills and acquire all the tools necessary to implement management principles and practices without greatly impacting their daily responsibilities. With just five days of instruction and 2.5 hours of outside-of-class groupwork, this is an ideal program for busy professionals. This course is completed at the Terry Executive Education Center in Atlanta, offering participants a trove of networking opportunities while building their skill set. It also fulfills the project management education hours required to qualify for the Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification Exam.

Course Outline:
Students gain the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for successful project management. The class is aligned to the standards and practices outlined in the Project Management Institute (PMI)® A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), and other industry standard’s such as The Scrum Guide™.

Topics included in the course includes:

  • Project management concepts, roles, responsibilities, and lifecycle stages
  • Practices and tools for successfully end-to-end project management:
    • Selecting and initiating projects
    • Planning scope, schedule, and cost
    • Managing change, risks, actions, issues, and status
  • Stakeholder and communications management

This course is taught in-person and virtually, using formal lectures, interactive exercises and group case study work to reinforce the concepts and give students experience using the tools and practices.

Alan has a master’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland and a master’s certificate in IT Project Management from the George Washington University. He also holds multiple Agile certifications from the Disciplined Agile Consortium, Scrum Alliance, and Scaled Agile.
